Blue Book Region 8 and Region 10 Errors and Addenda to Sixth Edition - Kirk Doan

I was the Editor of the patch issue listings Regions 8 and 10 of THE BLUE BOOK, STANDARD ORDER OF THE ARROW INSIGNIA CATALOG, SIXTH EDITION 2006. Please send any additions or corrections to me for consideration for listing in the next edition, Blue Book 7, at kirkdoan@sbcglobal.net. Please either send me a color photo/photostat, or black and white with the colors indicated, as well as the use or history of the patch, date of issue, etc. so it complies with out listing protocol. Following is a listing of issues for the OA Lodges of old Region 8 and Region 10 that I am aware have come out since the cutoff date of The Blue Book, Sixth Edition 2006, or which were omitted or incorrectly identified. The following listings follow the order of the legend bar in The Blue Book: Issue & Variety; Border Type & Color; Background Color; Name Color; FDL Color; and Comments.

We are now working on the Seventh Edition. If you know of any issues for the Region 8 and Region 10 Lodges through the fall of 2007 or any other new issues since the Sixth Edition not listed here, please let me know ASAP! Our catalogue listings are only as good as the information given to us. The Blue Book, Seventh Edition and will be available in 2008. I hope to see you soon.

Be a Lodge Contact Person:
I am looking for people in each of the above Lodges to advise me of new issues as they come out, and any corrections in The Blue Book, or this Update. Please contact me if you have any such information, or would like to help me out as a Lodge contact person. I particularly need help in listing neckerchiefs and event patches and with the order of issue of patches. This page will only be as good as you help me make it!

ORIENTAL FAKES: Oriental fakes are a scourge on our hobby. Many of the valuable early flaps have been reproduced in the orient and sold over the past few years, particularly on Ebay. I reluctantly list these items. I believe all catalogues should refrain from listing the varieties of these items as listing them causes people to want to acquire them, and we therefore add value and legitimacy to these worthless items. If we want our hobby to suffer the loss of collector interest caused by the proliferation of fake and bogus items from which stamp collecting suffers, we should do nothing to stop these issues. On the other hand, I believe we should not list these items in catalogs and instead state "All items appearing to be issues of this Lodge that are of oriental origin are privately issued worthless fakes."
